3:09 pm
the city and she did her due diligence to find a candidate i'm happy to wave the agency waiver in this instance i wanted to make sure i touched basz bases with supervisor jane kim >> okay childcare workers not being able to live in the city is completely true as some people know most people know in the nonprofit the nonprofit in general you're going to have the lowest age workers in the city and childcare over education is on the bottom of the nonprofit sector so it's easily to understand why people in it sector can't afford to live in inform.

3:12 pm
>> any other questions? supervisor london breed. >> thank you for being here and your interest in applying. i notice it the application question that you whether or not you attend any meetings of this particular body in the past you said no, can you explain what you're familiarity is with the committee in general and why do you think you would fit into this particular body >> actually since i've submitted that application i've attended the last meeting. that particular discussion was wrapping the current funding on the water infrastructure improvement and really the technical aspect of it was what i kind of bring to the board. there's members of the board that are really financial savvy
3:13 pm
and my jerry background is unique >> the other question i would have is attention and whether or not your trul believing you can attend each and every meeting and really commenting to that. >> so as i understand the committee meets one morning a month and i am absolutely ready to attend those meetings and i don't foresee i am going to change my professional focus not to travel has much. >> and also part of that there's a lot of read into the record and materials that need to be analyzed for this particular position the time outside of the meetings is extremely important as well. and i just wanted to ask what
3:14 pm
whether or not you'd have the time to comment to that >> as i understand the preparation time resignations between sort of 3 and 10 hours before a committee hearing and i'm prepared to dedicate that amount of time that's my exception. >> okay. great thank you. okay. thank you very much >> okay. any public comment on this item? seeing none, public comment is closed. can we have a motion to forward this to the full board with recommendation >> so moved. this motion passes congratulations. item 4 >> item 4 hearing to appoint

3:16 pm
question of stablz the south of market community during this time of development. thank you >> sorry about this john you would be the first speaker for this particular item. >> good afternoon, members. i'm john. thank you very much for considering my plantation. i joined the group in 1978 and 35 years of work with that development housing development. and what i hope to bring to the stabilization cac is the benefit of some experience and expertise. it's important the body for south of market it's a real enforcement vehicle.
3:17 pm
if you have any questions, we'll be happy to answer them. >> okay supervisor breed. >> hi, good to see you. i notice you still have you're the present commissioner for the treasure island authority >> that's correct. >> i didn't see your in common name on the list. also attendance, of course, is important you, you know you have a excellent record on the treasure authority and we're commented to the authority and adding an additional responsibility what are the hours and time commitment >> that's always a good question. as it happens my commitments have lengthened up and the 8 year process at the west advisors committee for the
3:18 pm
planet wrapped up and last year unfortunately, the south of any member of the public wish to speak on any item committee came to a sudden end and i was a member of those groups and actually, my time budget for community engagement is more flexible than it was up to that point. and community engagement is really one of the priorities you know of our taco group in every way i'll have support from my staff and so on >> okay. thank you. >> thank you very much. >> any public comment on this item? okay. seeing none, public comment is closed. can we have a motion to forward this to full board >> second. >> stem 5. >> here to consider appointing
3:19 pm
one member to the commission on the aging advisors council one that seat and one applicant. >> okay. mr. lawrence - ms. lawrence i'm sorry. >> that's okay. thank you for taking the time to meet with me. i'm a retirement homeowner of district four. i'm honor by animates. i've lived the majority of my life in the seat belting district and a fourth generation san franciscan and have seen changes 0 in the city and a neighborhoods. my work experience during my thirty plus years in the insurance industry i was recognizable to write
3:20 pm
regulations and navigate the world of insurance regulation and law so doing that as an advisors councilmember is not a problem. when asked why i want to serve on the commission i think it's time to stop grumbling what i see in district 4 and get back to what i love in the city. i've taken care of my mother and grandmother and that provides me a unique experience and understanding of some of the challenges facing adult search and seizures of who both sdrinth 4 and san francisco. as i age myself those challenges are cropping up although i'd like to deny their occurring >> we all do (laughter) and so if i were to the
3:21 pm
appointed i have the time to prepare for the meeting and to a attend and see no problems with in that area. i've not yet attend meetings but i've spoken to other members of the committee and i'd found it an honor to give back >> any questions. we're joined by supervisor cowen so any questions. seeing none. any public comment on this item? seeing none, public comment is closed. colleagues do we have a motion to forward this application to the full board with recommendation >> so moved. >> no objection motion passes congratulations. we're on item number 6 >> item number 6 hearing to
3:22 pm
consider appointing two members terms ending to the home supportive authority there are two seats and two applicant. >> okay. so we'll call them up in order as listed (calling names) patricia. good afternoon >> good afternoon. i'm patricia and i'm currently a commissioner fierro for consumers in san francisco. i'm also an emergency worker through the public authority and i'm an advocate for people with exchanges disabilities and search and seizures and children. i see this opportunity oh, my god i see this as an opportunity for a voice to be here in the city to help people. i want to be a voice for them as well as a voice for the workers
3:23 pm
i represent as well. >> okay. any questions. >> are there any questions. >> yes. >> supervisor breed. >> i see you've attend some of the meetings and what are your thoughts. >> my innocence go up whether there are considerations for cutbacks for our consumers that are being kept in their homes with the service we provide for them. i see that as an opportunity i learn so much and can take that information back to the people i work for they live in fear and worry because each hours are taken from them there's the possibility they'll not been able to live in their homes.
3:24 pm
i believe they should be kept there so long as they're safe. i want to bring that back to them. so the meetings are vitality i'm interested in the upcoming managed care and how it's going to effect us there's going to be a lot of changes. my being in the meetings consumers don't understand they have no one to bring the information to them. i want to make it simple for them how they're going to be assisted. their scared they're not going to be able to choose the people to care for them. they should have someone to bring that information to them intellectually and have the
3:25 pm
passion to take away the fear, you know, >> okay. thank you >> thank you. supervisor cowen >> so you mentioned you want to be a voice and bring about change. >> yes. >> and one of the things i believe and subscribe to you can do change without being an elected official so what kind of work have you done prior to our application. >> prior to my application and prior to being a commissioner fierro i come from the banking industry. >> from the what? the banking industry. this type of work has humbled me working for large korpgsdz you walk around with our head up not seeing what's around you.
3:26 pm
i can say working for investment banking firms kind of blinded me. when i got the opportunity to work with my first client he just opened my eyes to so many needs that agencies i'm done research i'm able to link the agencies to help them get a wheelchair or walker because i meet people on a coinciding process and idealogy in conversation quite easily. >> also you talked about your clients have this fear of not being able actually, it's a real fear because of the cuts that have happened and continually on the chopping block to happen
3:27 pm
have you done any work on a statewide level. >> i haven't and i'm looking at to do this. i know that i can bring about a change no matter how small it might be. i wanted to work towards something bigger >> do you have something specific. >> i'd like to burger to go to the state chapel i've never done that to be able to voice the need for not making the deep cuts that at the do those consumers need. the public authority has given me with counselor and they've educated me in ways i would have never thought i'd be able to >> is there any one particular area where the cuts have happened that concern you most.
3:28 pm
>> the hours i've seen a lot of my consumers lose. it can make a difference of someone coming in and making a hot meal for them or helping them get a shower or be able to go and get them food. if you take away the hours i mean some can't get out if they can they are vulnerable and i see them a lot on the street they're out there 0 with no assistance they can't get on the buzz and their challenged. my heart goes out i can't help them all >> one last question what's our cross street. >> my what. >> 23rd and a okay. well
3:29 pm
future. any public comment on this item?. you have two minutes >> good afternoon, supervisors. i'm patrick from the public authority my executive director wanted me to apologize for citywide i statewide meeting. as a liaison i want to express my support for both candidates and thank you for hearing us. before i ask for my colleagues opinion. we get to hear a lot of items in regards to items of advisors groups and many qualified people
